Fortunately enough, Malta has not been hit too badly by the tides of economic doom and gloom which have swept over much of Europe (5.85% unemployment as of the third quarter of 2014, compared to the Eurozone average of 11.4%*). So there are plenty of jobs in Malta. Which is good!
So if you’ve got the right skills, it’s probably worth considering working in the sun for a while. At least that was my thinking, and I got a job within a week of landing here. If you are looking for casual jobs, it’s going to be a case of knocking on doors and handing out C.V.s. You can also check out the Malta Times listings for vacancies, although a lot of them will require you to be able to speak Maltese, which is not something to be attempted by the faint-hearted non-native. For something a little more permanent, you will need to check out the various job agencies/sites available here. To help you out a little, here are some of the more prominent ones offering jobs in Malta:
A lot of these sites are geared towards the IT sector, as this is where most of the jobs for non-nationals are to be found. I’ve tried a couple of them myself, but without success. In fact at best I got an ‘Unfortunately…’ email in response to my applications. However I did have better luck with 8am.com, which is how I ended up with my current job. However that was a few years ago now, so best to check around the agencies and sign up with a couple of them.
Happy Hunting!

Thanks for this. Have you noticed whether there is any part time or temp work in Malta? A client may move his business there, and has asked if I’m interested in moving there to keep doing my work for him. I couldn’t live on just that, but I also wouldn’t want a full time job on top of it. I’d like to 1,000-1,500 hours/year, retail or office work.
I am not looking myself, but you can’t help noticing ‘Help Wanted’ signs outside a lot of restaurants and bars and shops. So there are certainly jobs around, even though I can’t guarantee you’d walk into a job straight off the plane.
I am interested in knowing if there is any probability to find a summer job in Malta for more or less a month. I am asking this because looking at previous posts on this argument it seemed to me that it’s required some experience at least or a longer working period. Is it possible to find any kind of job being an Italian student with not much experience for a short period of time?
